While in your inventory screen place a stack of berries or meat in your hotbar and simply hold down the corresponding number. You can eat many similar things at once like berries or cooked meat. Note that if you have someone or something else's inventory screen up, double-clicking the armor piece will just transfer it to the other inventory, not your armor slot. Double-clicking an armor piece will transfer it to the appropriate armor slot and swap out any piece that might already be there.
This will move the item to the next open slot on your hotbar. Items can quickly be set to your hotbar by opening your own inventory screen and double-clicking the item. Double-clicking on stacks will transfer 1 at a time while holding Shift and double-clicking will transfer 5 at a time. When on the inventory screen of a storage container, dino, or other player you can quickly transfer items from one inventory to the other by double-clicking on the item.
